69F Sailing
The 69F is typically a three-person foiling boat, but since I sail on a youth team, I am allowed to sail with four people instead. My position on the boat is the flight controller, which is a technical job. In my position, I control the height and pitch at which the boat is foiling. Adjusting the boat’s foil rudder rake to add and reduce lift helps the boat initiate flight and keeps the boat stable once it is in the air. By communicating with the skipper, I adjust the settings so the boat can be at maximum speed at all times.
We hit a top speed of 31.1 knots and averaged 30 knots for 10 seconds.
